![]() ![]() ![]() They are implying a more complex set-up for some things like halos. It is only using CPU.īy using Blender 3.3, you could use EEVEE and Cycles who would exploit your GPU to render images incredibly faster than Blender internal and in the same style.ĮEVEE and Cycles don’t have light linking. That is not the card that will limit your working abilities, that is Blender 2.79 that will.īlender Internal does use GPU to render. But by doing that, they are also able to run old apps using an older version. New cards are exploiting most recent version of OpenGL. To run, it just needs a card able to handle its version of OpenGL. RTX is a technology relative to rendering of games.īlender viewport does not exploit it in 2.79 or in 3.3. So I need help in understanding what limitations I will have switching from a 770 to a newer card and whether I can keep using 2.79, or will I have to get 770 again to keep compatibility alive. I don’t know if Blender 2.79 supports the use of RTX at all or in some limited capacity, or will the whole thing run on the CPU? So I’m planning to upgrade to an RTX card (not chosen yet… low budget though)īut I’m worried that simple modeling would suffer on Blender 2.79 due to lack of explicit GPU support. Maybe it would be nice to still have Blender Render work but its not strictly necessary. I don’t plan to render anything in Cycles on blender 2.79, I do plan on using it to model, texture, make materials and use some old legacy plugins. ![]() Hello, recently my GTX 770 has died, GTX 770 was one of the cards listed in the old compatibility section of 2.79 Blender.Īs i understand the compatibility of the new Blender versions have significantly increased to various cards.īut I use both the new blender and the old Blender 2.79 specifically for its legacy features. ![]()
